TECHNICAL DESIGN
|
No experience is required to participate in tech with the Barnstormers! We are happy to teach newcomers about the ins-and-outs of technical design. We have positions available with a wide variety of time commitments, as well - even if you only have a few hours to spare each week, we'd love to have you.
Tech calls for upcoming productions are sent out via email. To be added to our mailing list, please email us at [email protected]. We have opportunities in many areas, including:

Of all the jobs of a producer, the one that I find the most meaningful is creating a strong sense of community among the company of a show. In the Barnstormers, we care deeply about our work and give huge amounts of time and energy to it, so it’s really important to me that everyone in the cast and crew feels like they are supported, appreciated, and included during the course of a production. I have found that kind of community through this group, and am so happy to be able to pay it forward and have fun in the process. - Sigrid Edson (Producer, She Kills Monsters and FOAs 2021) |
One thing that separates theatre from most other artforms is just how collaborative it is. As stage-managers, especially in a student-run company like the Barnstormers, our job is built on this collaboration. We work hand-in-hand with directors, with actors, with designers, and even with audiences to pull together the best production possible. At every rehearsal and performance, we get a front row seat to see the incredible work that our peers on- and back-stage have created and we help to maintain our company’s strong theatrical tradition. Stage managing is an incredibly intensive role, but getting to help put all of the pieces of the puzzle together makes it all worth it. - Joshua Deck (Stage Manager, Hamlet and Into the Woods) |
