OUR SEASON LINEUP
The JHU Barnstormers produce six shows per academic year. Learn a bit about each of them below!
ORIENTATION SHOW (O-SHOW)
O-Show is the first production of the year and showcases short pieces by each theater group in the Hopkins community. It is intended to highlight a wide range of performance opportunities to first-years and transfer students.
FRESHMAN ONE ACTS (FOAs)
FOAs is a series of short one-acts with all acting and tech done by first-years under the direction and mentorship of upperclassmen. The showcase is performed in mid-October, and is a great opportunity for freshmen with a variety of experience levels to get involved in the Barnstormers.
The Fall mainstage is the first professionally directed production of the year and is selected by general assembly members. Recent Fall mainstages include Picnic (2022), Hamlet (2021), Little Women (2020), The Curious Savage (2019), and The Laramie Project (2018).
INTERSESSION SHOW (I-SHOW)
I-Show is a student-directed play rehearsed primarily during Intersession. The show opens in early February. Recent I-Show productions include Coastal Disturbances (2023), She Kills Monsters (2022), Clue (2021), Uncle Vanya (2020), and The Wolves (2019).
A professional director and musical director are hired for the Spring musical, which is selected via the same process as the Fall mainstage. Recent musicals include Spring Awakening (2023), Into the Woods (2022), The Drowsy Chaperone (2021), and Cabaret (2019).
Showcase changes from year to year and is decided upon during the Spring semester!
